Brita d’Agostino is an American interdisciplinary artist, designer, and educator. Since 2017, she has served as Assistant Professor and area head of Graphic Design at New Mexico State University as part of an interdisciplinary visual arts program. Her research and practice encompass digital art and design, and span a variety of media: installation, collage, design, photography and interactive computer-based projects that include critical discourse and design pedagogy. Her positions in the publishing industry include graphic and web design for the award-winning Wired Magazine where she worked from 2007-13. In 2019 she received a prestigious Fulbright Fellowship to the University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia. Her art works, ranging from photography to large scale installations, have been exhibited at: Aperture Foundation, Pulitzer Arts Foundation, SF Camerawork, Houston Center for Photography, Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, and Hallwalls Contemporary Art Center. Conference paper presentations include: College Art Association (CAA) annual conference, the International Conference of Word & Image Studies, University of Lausanne, Switzerland and the International Conference on Communication & Mass Media, Athens, Greece.

Brita has over 9 years of college-level teaching experience in design and visual arts. Prior to her appointment to NMSU in 2017, she served as an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Daemen College in Amherst, NY for 4 years. While at Daemen College, she was elected to the Board of the American Advertising Federation (AAF) Buffalo Chapter where she served on the Education Committee for 3 years leading events including the Annual Portfolio Review and Seminar for college-level design students. Her students have gone on to work professionally as designers in companies that include: Fisher Price, NMCO Media, Arrowhead Innovation Center, The Martin Group, and Gelia, and as professional artists and photographers, K-12 art educators and academics. She received her MFA from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) in Imaging and Digital Arts in 2007 and a BA, summa cum laude, in Art from Temple University in 2003.
